Acne
Acne, also known as “acne vulgaris”, is a skin problem that occurs when dead skin cells, dirt, bacteria and oil from the skin clog hair follicles, resulting in pimples. If your skin is repeatedly affected by this condition, you may have acne, which commonly develops on the face, back, chest and shoulders because these areas of skin have the most oil (sebaceous) glands. Hair follicles are connected to oil glands.
Acne signs and symptoms vary depending on the severity of your condition:
Whiteheads (closed plugged pores)
Blackheads (open plugged pores)
Small red, tender bumps (papules)
Pimples (pustules), which are papules with pus at their tips
Large, solid, painful lumps beneath the surface of the skin (nodules)
Painful, pus-filled lumps beneath the surface of the skin (cystic lesions)
HOW WE CAN HELP
While acne can improve over time, it can often leave scars behind. It is recommended to treat Acne as soon as it appears, and here at ALCEA we have multiple treatment options to treat this problem and prevent scar forming such as:
Consult with your ALCEA specialist on which products containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, retinol and other acids are best to apply on your skin.
Microneedling, which stimulates collagen production and lessens the appearance of scars.
Chemical peels to remove the scarred surface and expose unblemished layers
Superficial peels such as glycolic or salicylic acid to help loosen whiteheads, blackheads and decrease pimples
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) to remove excess oil and dead skin cells from clogged pores.
